Pakistan cricket team to leave for England tour

Pakistans cricket team led by Inzamam-ul-Haq will leave for England today (Sunday) to play a series of four test and five one-day international matches.
According to the details, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to retain the 15 members squad against England which announced earlier. The team management has decided that the decision regarding the inclusion of Rana Naveed-ul-Hassan as 16th player would be made after receiving his scanning reports as Shoaib Akhtar has also been declared unfit. Commenting on the Pakistan bowling strength after injuries of Shoaib Akhtar and Rana Naveed-ul-Hassan, Inzamam-ul-Haq said that the Pakistans pace attack should not be considered weak, adding that he has complete confidence in his bowlers as Muhammad Asif performed exceptionally well in the absence of Shoaib Akhtar and Rana Naveed-ul-Hassan in Sri Lankan tour. Inzamam-ul-Haq, however admitted that young bowlers do lack in experience. The poor performance cannot be justified on the basis of injuries, he added. Inzamam-ul-Haq who had played three test series in England clearly stated that his first choice in spinning department is Danish Kaneria, however he added that the services of Mushtaq Ahmed can be acquired as he already playing in England.
Expressing his views about the Englands weather condition, Pakistani captain said that weather there always conducive for Pakistan as batsmen, fast and spin bowlers took advantage of the climate in the past, he added. He expressed his hope that the current dry weather would help spinners as in the going series between England and Sri Lanka, spinners performed well. Captain of the Pakistani Cricket Team termed the England tour as toughest, stated that such tours are vital for team preparations for the World Cup 2007. Pakistan Cricket Team if play with a discipline like what did Sri Lanka in an ongoing series, can beat England, he added.

India U-19 cricket team to tour Pakistan

The Indian Under-19 team will travel to Pakistan to play two four-day matches and three one-day matches in September, Pakistan news services Paktribute website quoated an official of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday.
The tour, which is a regular fixture at youth level between the two countries, is scheduled to be played at smaller venues like Gujranwala, Sheikhupura and Sialkot as the Pakistan board attempts to popularize cricket in parts of the country other than the traditionally cricket-friendly cities of Lahore and Karachi. Test matches have been played in all three venues, though the last one was nearly nine years ago, in 1997, when South Africa played in Sheikhupura. The PCB official said that the matches would provide youngsters with valuable experience and help them learn to play under pressure.
India and Pakistan last met each other in the finals of the U-19 World Cup in February 2006 in Sri Lanka, where Pakistan bowled the Indian side out for 71 to retain the trophy. The Pakistan U-19 team will tour India next year to play a return series.
