England Vs Patron's XI
 England beat Patron's XI by 52 runsNov 3, 2005
Ashley Giles and Liam Plunkett took four wickets each when England staged a remarkable comeback to beat a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Patron's XI by 52 runs on the final day of a three-day match.
The home team needed just 158 to win after England were dismissed for 112 on Wednesday but were skittled out for 105. Spinner Shaun Udal chipped in with two wickets.
Uncapped Plunkett, in the test squad for Simon Jones, and left-arm spinner Giles caused havoc as the Patron's XI lost eight wickets for 38 runs in just 15.4 overs. Plunkett took the final wicket of the session, that of captain Misbah-ul-Haq (14), who edged to Marcus Trescothick at slip, for figures of 4-13 off five overs. Giles took his four wickets for 38 runs off 11 overs.
Yasir Hameed (30) and Ashar Zaidi (26) gave the Patron's team a solid start of 50 before the wickets started to fall. Hameed hit straight to Andrew Strauss at mid-wicket off
Giles and then the spinner trapped Bazid Khan for nought to make it 50-2.
Zaidi skied Plunkett to James Anderson at mid-on and then Asim Kamal edged the ball to
Trescothick. Plunkett's third victim was Faisal Iqbal, caught behind by Matthew Prior for two.
Giles, who missed the second day with an upset stomach, bowled Shahzad Malik (three) with a quicker ball and got rid of Khalid Latif (0) who mistimed a big hit to Strauss.
England had resumed on 39 for six and were tormented by pace bowler Arafat, who took the wickets of Ian Bell, Giles and Matthew Hoggard to finish the innings with figures of five for 31 runs.
The only redeeming feature for England was another fluent knock of 38 not out from Trescothick who came into bat at number nine after Bell was trapped leg before by Arafat for one.
