Pakistan v Australia 3rd ODI at Abu Dhabi

PAK v AUS, 3rd ODI, Abu Dhabi: Australia beats Pakistan by 27 runs (AUS 2:1)

Michael Clarke's all-round performance helped his team give Pakistan a dose of their own medicine as Australia won the third day-night international by 27 runs at Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The 28-year-old hit a fighting 66 to anchor an otherwise struggling Australian innings which helped them reach 198-7 in their allotted 50 overs before claiming 3-15 to bowl Pakistan out for 171 in 47.1 overs.
Clarke's brilliant bowling which saw Pakistan lose their ten wickets in the space of 76 runs -- steered his team to a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The remaining two matches will be played here on May 1 and 3. The only Twenty20 match is scheduled for Dubai on May 7.

PAK v AUS, 3rd ODI, Abu Dhabi: Pakistan look to pacemen for early Australian wickets

Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam urged his pace spearheads to provide early breakthroughs to keep Australia to a low score in the third one-day international at Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The pace trio of Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul and Rao Iftikhar have managed just two wickets between them in the first two matches - both by Gul - allowing the Australians to win the second match in Dubai by six wickets on Friday. The five-match series stands at 1-1 after Pakistan won the first match by four wickets, also in Dubai, on Wednesday.
Injury-plagued Akhtar, who has just one wicket to show for his last four one-dayers, played both games despite suffering from a viral infection but may be rested on Monday for all-rounders Sohail Tanvir or Yasir Arfat to come in. Alam said Australia were a professional side and would continue to press hard for victories.
