Pakistan in Sri Lanka 2006 ODI Series News

England safe after Pakistan win

Shahid Afridi claimed 3-47 and Mohammad Yousuf hit 53 as Pakistan beat Sri Lanka to seal the series, and a place in October's ICC Champions Trophy.
The four-wicket one-day win means England also avoid having to qualify, while Sri Lanka play extra matches.
Sri Lanka were bowled out for 224 having been cruising at 93-1 after 22 overs after Chamara Kapugedera's 50.
Openers Shoaib Malik and Imran Farhat hit 46 each and Abdul Razzaq completed the win with a six in the 46th over.
Third one-day international, Colombo: Pakistan 229-6 beat Sri Lanka 224 by four wickets

Razzaq guides Pakistan to victory

Abdul Razzaq produced a disciplined innings to see Pakistan to victory by four wickets in a low-scoring one-day game against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Having bowled out the home side for 130 on a difficult pitch, Pakistan were in trouble themselves on 82-6.
But Razzaq and Kamran Akmal put on 52 and passed the target in the 45th over.
Razzaq faced 98 deliveries without a single boundary but ended the game on 41 not out after four, six and four off successive balls from Nuwan Kulasekera.
The restraint of a player who went into the game with a one-day strike rate of over 81 per 100 balls was impressive, but in the circumstances absolutely necessary with his side struggling in pursuit of a modest target.
One-day international, Colombo: Pakistan 134-6 (44.4 overs) beat Sri Lanka 130 (44.2 overs) by four wickets

Sri Lanka frustrated by downpour

Pakistan were saved from potential defeat when torrential rain arrived in Colombo after they had made only 201-8 in their game against Sri Lanka.
The day-night match, the first of a best of three series, was abandoned with pools of water on the outfield.
Earlier, Mohammad Yousuf (46) and Younis Khan (41) were the main scorers in a moderate Pakistan total.
Seam bowler Farveez Maharoof (3-24) and leg-spinner Kaushal Lokuarachchi (3-47) were the pick of the home attack.
The home side went into the day-night game without opening batsman Sanath Jayasuriya and seamers Chaminda Vaas and Ruchira Perera.
First one-day international, Colombo (Premadasa): Pakistan 201-8 (50 overs) v Sri Lanka - match abandoned after heavy rain
