Pakistan v West Indies ODI Series 2008-09

PAK v WI, 3rd ODI, Abu Dhabi: Pakistan sweeps three-match series against West Indies (PAK: 3-0)

Despite a battling century by West Indies captain Chris Gayle, Pakistan won the third and final one-day international by 31 runs to sweep the series 3-0 staged in the United Arab Emirates.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Pakistan reached 273-6 in its 50 overs thanks mainly to a well-paced innings of 101 by Younis Khan and an unbeaten 79 by Misbah-ul-Haq.
Gayle hit 122 for his 18th one-day international hundred and second of the series following a 113 on Wednesday, but that could only take his team to 242 before it was bowled out in the 47th over.
Shoaib Malik, who was retained as Pakistan's captain for the upcoming visit of India early next year, was happy with the result.

A strong bowling display helped Pakistan beat the West Indies by 24 runs Friday in the second one-day international, and also gave the team victory the three-match series.
Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan were all out for 232 in 49 overs, almost 40 runs short of the target they were hoping to set.
Despite a century by Shivnarine Chanderpaul (107 not out), the capacity crowd at the 20,000-seat Zayed Stadium, comprising mostly of Pakistan supporters, were not disappointed as the West Indies were bowled out for 208.
In the first match Wednesday, Pakistan by four wickets. The final match of the series is on Sunday.

Kamran Akmal hit two sixes in paceman Jerome Taylor's last over to help Pakistan beat the West Indies by four wickets in a dramatic finish to the first day-night international at Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
Chasing a daunting 295, Pakistan needed a tough 17 off the 50th over, but Akmal hit the second and third ball for sixes to give his team an unexpected win with a nine-ball 24 not out to overshadow Chris Gayle's brilliant century.
Gayle notched a 106-ball 113 to power his team to a challenging 294-9 in their 50 overs. Paceman Lionel Baker (3-47) nearly derailed Pakistan before Akmal and Fawad Alam (26 not out) changed the script.
Akmal walked in at the fall of Shoaib Malik's wicket whose enterprising 50-ball 66 nearly ended in vain but Akmal and Alam notched 33 needed off the last three overs to give Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
The second match will be played on Friday.
