South Africa have beaten Pakistan by 164 runs in the first one-dayer of their five-match series in Centurion.
Earlier, South Africa had piled up the seventh-highest total in the history of ODIs a mammoth 392 for 6 from their allotted 50 overs.
Man-of-the-Match Jacques Kallis was the hero for the Proteas who top-scored with 88 not out.
His innings included four sixes and two fours. He then picked up 3/34 in the second innings.
Skipper Graeme Smith, AB de Villiers and Mark Boucher all scored half-centuries, as South Africa narrowly missed the magical 400-run mark.
In reply, the Pakistanis never really got going as they lost wickets at regular intervals, eventually folding up for 228.
The second match of the series takes place in Durban on Wednesday.
