PAK vs SA, 1st Test : South Africa fight back against Pakistan

South Africa fought back after half-centuries by Yasir Hameed and Younis Khan had put Pakistan on top on the first day of the first Test in Centurion overnight.
Pakistan, who won the toss and chose to bat, were 5 for 242 when bad light ended play six overs early. Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was 35 not out with Kamran Akmal on 18. Hameed scored 65 while Younis scored 68. They shared a partnership of 133 for the third wicket after Pakistan had slipped to 2 for 50 in the second hour of play. They were dismissed three overs apart after tea. Younis top-edged a pull off medium-pacer Shaun Pollock and was caught by Andre Nel at fine leg then Hameed's pull shot off fast bowler Nel was caught by Makhaya Ntini at deep square-leg.
Seven overs later fast bowler Jacques Kallis had Faisal Iqbal caught behind by wicket-keeper Mark Boucher for 1. The catch was Boucher's 367th in Test matches, which put him ahead of Australian Ian Healy for the most catches in Test cricket. Healy still holds the record for the most dismissals with 395, 13 more than Boucher.

Pakistan quick Mohammad Asif, who had a one-year doping ban overturned last month, took all four wickets as South Africa reached 254-4 at stumps Friday on day two of the first Test.
Ashwell Prince (77 not out) put on a 90-run partnership with Hashim Amla (71) and an unbeaten stand of 111 with Herschelle Gibbs (58 not out) to steer the Proteas to 59 runs shy of Pakistan's 313. Prince hit 10 fours in 144 balls, Gibbs and Amla each hit 11 boundaries at Centurion Park. Asif had 4-58 off 16 overs.

PAK vs SA, 1st Test : Pakistan fight back against South Africa

Pakistan trailed South Africa by one run after reaching 103 for two wickets at stumps on Saturday in its second innings on the third day of the first Test.
Opener Imran Farhat hit an undefeated 41 and Younis Khan was not out 32. South Africa was dismissed for 417 before tea to take a 104-run first-innings lead after the visitors were dismissed for 313 in their first innings at Centurion Park.
Jacques Kallis struck in his first over for South Africa, drawing Mohammad Hafeez (15) into a drive who ended up edging a simple catch to Graeme Smith at first slip. Thereafter, Kallis also got Yasir Hameed (9) to give a faint edge to wicketkeeper Mark Boucher. Kallis ended the day with 2-18 off six overs. Younis and Farhat batted slowly at first but began to play aggressive strokes, frustrating the South African bowlers in their unbroken third-wicket partnership of 45.

PAK vs SA, 1st Test : South Africa needs 130 to win

South Africa reached 69 for two wickets to move within 130 runs of victory over Pakistan at stumps Sunday on the fourth day of the first of three Tests.
South Africa lost both openers after Pakistan was dismissed for 303 to set the Proteas a target of 199. A.B de Villiers was caught at second slip by Younis Khan off Mohammad Asif for 12, and captain Graeme Smith was leg-before-wicket to Mohammad Hafeez for 32 at Centurion Park. The Proteas were dismissed for 417 in reply to Pakistan's 313 for a first-innings lead of 104.

PAK vs SA, 1st Test : South Africa cruise to victory against Pakistan

Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis steered South Africa to a comfortable win in the first cricket Test against Pakistan.
Chasing 199 to win, South Africa reached 3-199 with 40 minutes to go before the scheduled tea interval on the fifth day. Pakistan were dismissed for 313 in their first innings, to which South Africa replied with 417. The tourists were then bowled out for 302 in their second innings. Amla was 64 not out with Kallis on 60 in a stand of 119 for the unbroken fourth wicket The second Test starts in Port Elizabeth on Friday.
